Endowment Fund Secretariat

Scope of the UAP Endowment Fund:

  1. To support UAP programs for applied research in Agriculture, Livestock, Gender development and product commercialization.
  2. Strengthen training & out-reach programs of the University.
  3. Encourage linkages with other Institutions of research, private sector, NGOs and domestic & International organizations.
  4. Promote cooperation among scientists conducting Agricultural related research at Universities/Institutions in Pakistan & abroad.

Under the scope of Endowment Fund specified above, following are some of the key areas for fund utilization but are not restricted to the following:

Agriculture:

  1. Support Agricultural development initiatives throughout Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
  2. Convert cultivable wastelands & marginal lands into high-value arable lands
  3. Improve farm operations and practices
  4. Improve Post-Harvest crop management
  5. Improvements to the Agricultural marketing system
  6. Food preservation and processing at the household levels
  7. An Introduction to nutrigeonomics, which examins the impact of food variety on the genetic makeup of people in various societies.
  8. Developing and spread genetically enhanced varieties of local germplasms of cereals for food security and dealing with intellectual property rights issues.
  9. Development and spreads of genetically enhanced horticulture and floriculture crops (controlled and vertical farming)
  10. Promote and encourage cultivation of Off-season vegetables sprouts etc.
  11. Implementation of modern water management systmes for agricultural land
  12. Development and distribution of enhanced fruit varieties
  13. Promotion and development of socio and Agro-Forestry.

LIVESTOCK

  1. Improvements to livestock Health and Management Services following disease prevention and eracication plan.
  2. Conservation and development of local animal genetic resource
  3. Improvement in livestock genetics following the breeding policy. Enhancement of Livestoce feed resources and conservation
  4. Development of specialized LS Product pockets  and introducing relevant marketing chain within each pocket.
  5. Development of breed societies networks for centralized manngment and input /services supply
  6. Introducing better marketing system for livestock poultry and associated product.
  7. Fodder, forages and range improvement/manangement
  8. Vaccine production
  9. Disease prevention and eradication plan through involvement of LS farming communities.
  10. Development of Ethno medicine for local treating of ailments

Women DEVELOPMENT

  1. Women’s Agriculture & Livestock Training programme
  2. Complementary Enterprises for women
  3. Kitchen Gardening
  4. Integrated Nutrition Management programme
  5. Livestock & Poultry entrepreneurship  development
  6. Mushroom production entrepreneurship development
  7. Preservations of fruits, vegetables and dairy products for value addition
  8. Promotion of cottage industry

GENERAL

  1. Agriculture and Veterinary Education Support Programme.
  2. Need Based Special Extension Programme in all disciplines of Agriculture & Livestock.
  3. Farmers Field School for Crop Production.
